Cherrybrook Rural Fire Brigade What's Happening
This page summarises recent activities of the Cherrybrook Rural Fire Brigade as well as some upcoming events. It does not include routine training and meetings. Routine training follows a four crew roster system with a crew on one day each weekend. All brigade members are encouraged to attend the general monthly meeting held on the second Friday night of each month. Prospective new members should contact Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Fire Control on 9477 1122, or drop in when there is activity at the station.

Recently December 2001 - January 2002 - The Cherrybrook Brigade, along with all other Rural Fire Service, NSW Fire Brigades and Interstate brigades, was involved in dealing with the NSW Bush Fire Crisis over Christmas 2001-2002.For a map of where the fires were, click here
18 May 2002 - Cherrybrook celebrated 50 years as a brigade at the Dural Country Club. Check out our History Page. 6 July 2002 - A team of three participated in the annual NavShield wilderness navigation event, this year held west of Braidwood. The event is organised by the Bushwalkers Wilderness Rescue Squad. For further information see the Bushwalkers Wilderness Rescue Squad web site 20 July 2002 - A crew of six assisted with a hazard reduction burn at Kenthurst, in the neighbouring Baulkham Hills Rural Fire District. Rural Fire Brigades spend much of the winter season training and making preparations for the upcoming summer. 11 August 2002 - Members attended a church service at the Cherrybrook Uniting Church. Immediately after the service, the brigade responded to two fire calls. One was a bushfire in Cherrybrook and the other, a grass fire in Dural. 17 August 2002 - A crew of six assisted with a hazard reduction burn at Hornsby Heights. 7 September 2002 - Members attended the opening of the West Pennant Hills Sports Club and the John Purchase Public School Fete
26 October 2002 - Members attended the Roselea School Fete at Carlingford.
December 2002 - January 2003 - Familiar territory. The Cherrybrook Brigade, along with all other Rural Fire Service, NSW Fire Brigades and Interstate brigades, was involved in dealing with the NSW Bush Fire Crisis over the Christmas period again.
Wednesdays March 2003 - Additional to normal crew activity, many
members committed Wednesday evenings to the construction and maintenance of
trails in preparation for hazard reduction burns.

Members assisted with a hazard reduction burn at Hornsby
